The present site of Quality Discount Heating Oil & Propane was once an Esso Service Station that was built in 1941. On site there was a two bay garage used for auto repairs and one island that was used for fueling cars and trucks. Since then the Esso Service Station has undergone multiple renovations and now has three islands for fueling cars and trucks, a convenience store, and serves as an office for our fuel delivery services.
In November of 1992, the service station was purchased by John P. Modesto, the founder and current proprietor of Quality Discount Heating Oil & Propane. The repair bays remained opened for the first five years, but were remodeled and replaced with a mini-market. After the remodeling, then came the addition of our fuel delivery service. This new venture started out with two older delivery trucks, which were tough to keep in operation!
Now, we boast six state-of-the-art fuel delivery trucks.
In August of 2013, John P. Modesto Jr. joined the team after working in the supply chain industry for several years. His plans are to modernize the company and continue to operate the family owned business for many years to come!
Since we started out our mission was to ensure our customers would receive excellent service and quality fuel when they need it at a discounted price. Over the years we've added both heating oil and propane storage to keep true to this mission.
We've built our reputation on excellence in fuel delivery, with a constant focus on serving our customers.
Your comfort is too important so we deliver every time, and that's a promise.
The difference, in one word, is experience. Our drivers, customer service representatives, and the service technicians we work with have over
20 years of experience.
With our office in Port Carbon, PA we are able to serve our neighbors in central Schuylkill County.
In the winter of 2019, we broke ground behind our existing building to start construction on our new building, which now houses our office and convenience store.
In the winter of 2000, the property to the left of our building was purchased and in the spring we broke ground to install a loading rack and 20,000 gallon heating oil storage tank.
From late summer into early fall of 2020, after completion of our new building, our old building was demolished. We redeveloped our entire service station with new canopies, islands, and fuel pumps. With the redevelopment came a more open and easily accessible fueling space for our customers, along with parking right in front of our new store and office.
In the fall of 2012, two properties were purchased to the rear of our building. The houses on these properties were demolished within the year. In the fall of 2013, we broke ground and a 30,000 gallon propane bulk plant was installed.
